Summary

Designed a fully modular claim reporting system powered by claims microservices — enabling configurable, component-driven claim flows adaptable across multiple insurance products and 20+ global partner brands.

Problem

Each of simplesurance's 20+ embedded insurance partners had different brand requirements, product configurations, and regional constraints. Building one-off claim flows for each was unsustainable. The solution required a system flexible enough to serve all partners from a single architecture.

Process

  1. 1.Mapped all claim types across active insurance products to identify the structural patterns.
  2. 2.Designed a component-driven claim flow system — modular steps that could be assembled per product configuration.
  3. 3.Built the white-label design system layer enabling partner brand application without structural changes.
  4. 4.Validated the configurability model with engineering before design was finalised.
  5. 5.Delivered the system across ING, N26, VW, Jaguar Land Rover, Revolut, Samsung, and others.

Outcome

The modular system reduced new partner onboarding design effort by ~70%. The architecture became the foundation for all claim flows across the simplesurance product suite.
